Remember the old equation

internet + anonymity = asshole

Even in limited degrees of anonymity, it holds true.

Some people are halfway decent people who get in an odd state of mind, say something shitty, and get carried away with it, even to the point where they make no sense.

And then there are simply shitty people.

It's one thing to feel relief at a death (if say, a person was a threat to you), but anyone who takes genuine pleasure and joy in another person's/being's/creature's/living thing's death has mental issues.

I'll guess some of those people were trolls though.
