This is doubly true if you dare to suggest that going to any of the Disney theme parks isn't the world's best vacation. Oh yeah, people will be all like "oh well, more for me", but they'll also be sure to get in a lot of snarky remarks about how you're no fun and have lost touch with your inner child or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought Walt Disney World was the worst amusement park when I was an actual child (9 or 10), so this argument has never made sense to me. 24/7 ads for Disney stuff, super expensive food, and hardly any roller coasters? Pfft. Cedar Point 4 life, bb.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, another Ohioian? We have Cedar Point AND King's Island. I wasn't overly impressed with Disney World as a kid, either.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Roller coasters are my fuckin' life, man. *high fives to the KI and CP anons*

Chimes in to agree with both of you! I'm not an Ohioan, but as an Indianan I have been to both of those parks and I love them. Roller coaster parks >>> other parks.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, only rollercoasters make things fun. Only rollercoasters. Things cannot be enjoyable without rollercoasters.

Also did you miss the entire disney park with nothing BUT rollercoasters or are you just an idiot?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt

Way to prove a point.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I have been to Disney Land all of once. I've been to Disney World a bunch. There is no "park full of rollercoasters" on the East Coast.

I thought it was pretty clear ayrt was expressing an opinion, not a fact.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Since when is Space Mountain not a roller coaster?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Since when did the other anon say it wasn't?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
It is a coaster in the technical sense, but come on, guys. Which one is going to get you that mega adrenaline rush? Space Mountain or something like Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force?

Uh...Space Mountain for one reason only: If you are tall, you are terrified of losing arms and heads.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I've never gotten the "Disney food is super expensive" argument, because every other theme park serves food at around the same price, and most of the time, it isn't nearly as good (taste or portion wise) as Disney's (looking at your sorry ass, Sea World).

Seriously. I found a sandwich shop in Downtown Disney that gave me a nice meal for under $10 when I was there in 2010. I can't remember the place's name, but I would recognize it. Was near some fountains.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You do know that the parks and the animation parts of disney are run by different people?

The Disney park fans can get very defensive. I am personally a fan of the movies but not the parks, even if I did enjoy Disneyland as a kid. I get that some people might have gotten on their case for "being too childish" or something, but even just saying you don't like Disneyland makes some of them angry.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-06 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
As a huge fan of Disney parks, I can say it doesn't bother me one bit if an adult says it's not their cup of tea. It does, however, bother me if they will refuse to take their kids to even see if they might enjoy the experience. Not that I'll say anything, but it makes me feel sorry for their kid(s).

Really? Even if their reasoning is that they don't want to spend a bunch of money on it? People aren't obligated to spend tons of money on a particular thing like that - it's not like they will be deprived of all entertainment.

I love going to Disney. Lucky for me, so do my parents and they always pay. (I'm well past the age where that's the default arrangement.)

But I have no problem referring to them as the evil empire in the next breath, and I don't mean it as a joke.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The people who act like Disney theme parks are objectively the best places in the world are the worst. Disney Land/World are basically theme parks + your childhood nostalgia wrapped up in one nice consumerist/capitalist package. If it makes you happy, good for you, but stop acting like I'm missing out in my life by not wanting to go to one.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Strangely enough, having been through parts of Asia, most of western Europe, the US, Canada and a bunch of islands all over, Disney still ranks high up there for me. Yeah, Angkor Wat can take your breath away, but Disney world really is its own kind of glee. Also Epcot rocks because food.

I prefer Islands of Adventure myself.
