It is a great movie! Really the only Disney sequel I like (probably because they based it off another Shakespearean play).

It's really not a bad movie, as far as sequels go. I also think it has quite a few very well made scenes, this one included.

I actually like TLK2 better than the original.
I just wish they'd have utilized the potential a little bit better, instead of squishing everything down to be more "child friendly." (Getting rid of Zira's suicide, for instance.)

But why the opening?

Not OP

"He Lives In You" is one of the most emotionally powerful Disney songs in existence. It's gorgeous on its own, with the tense orchestration of the opening leading into the gentle, proud reassurance of the chorus and then exploding into this great triumphant sound in the last repeat. But in context, it's taking the "we are all connected" general premise of "Circle of Life" and turning it into something far more personal so you can see what it really means for the characters.

Both soundtracks for Lion King 2 are amazing, I'd say they were equal to the music from the first film. They take a decent movie and just make it an emotional thrill ride.

AYRT

Yep. I'm really not that big a fan of the movies (like them, own them, but wont really go out of my way for them), but I own four separate soundtrack albums including the Broadway one.

I almost cried when Rafiki pointed out the sky and you could see Mufasa watching them. That scene really got me.

I didn't like TLK2 but the opening scene was what I enjoyed the most.

That sequel basically justified all Disney sequels for me. Most of them are crap, but if that crap means we get stuff like this here and there, then that's okay.

This is the only Disney sequel which I actually felt was a good movie on its own. I just wish they had used the same animation style as the original, because that's always thrown me about Disney sequels.

Just commenting to say that I agree with everyone else who pointed out that this was a great movie with an amazing soundtrack. The song that always gets me is Not One of Us.

That is my favourite Disney song, hands down. It's also awesome in French.

I thought it was pretty bad... Now the Aladdin sequels, those are great.
