Politically, I believe it should be a matter for the individual to decide. I think the moral questions involved are too complex and recondite for it to be a matter for black and white laws, and I think the principle of personal freedom is too important. I also don't believe, on a personal level, that it's deeply morally wrong.

That said, I'm sometimes unsure whether the current framework for its legality in America is the best way to go. I think there are many ways in which it would be better if it was a matter of popular determination, instead of a judicial conclusion. It's such an important matter to so many people, and such a basic and fundamental ethical question, that I think it should be decided democratically. But we live in the world that we have, I guess.

No one should be able to vote on what another person can do with their own body.

No, I don't agree. I think people do have a fundamental right to determine the disposition of their own bodies. However, I think that part of democratic governance is adjudicating between competing fundamental rights and political needs. So, yes, duly constituted democratic assemblies have the ability to override fundamental rights in specific circumstances, provided that they do so with due process. The idea of banning someone from shouting "Fire" in a crowded theater, for instance.

And there are laws that I think are pretty reasonable that attest to this - for instance, your philosophy would make it hard to justify most health and safety legislation, and pretty much all drug prohibition laws.
