Your fandom sounds like fresh hell, tbh. 'Battling' the rival ship sounds like it would take too much time and effort, and turn your attention from the actual enjoyable bits of fandom.

I think the best thing to do in these situations (which I know is easier said than done when you feel the way you do) is just try not to care if you're 'winning' or not. If you don't mind that your ship isn't canon, you'll enjoy yourself a lot more. Then you won't have to obsess over if it will or won't be canon, and you can just enjoy yourself and let others enjoys themselves too.

But again, I know that might not work for you.
