That sounds vaguely horrifying, OP. And now I'm really curious about what the fandom and ship is. I'm not aware of any big AtLA/Harry Potter/Buffy-sized shipwars going on atm...

Let me introduce you to OUAT and Teen Wolf, both of which has some absolutely fabulous shipwars. Neither have reached the level of HP or BtVS, YET.

I don't watch either show and I'm not in either fandom, and I still see the ship wars crop up on my Tumblr dash.

If I had to guess, I'd say this secret is about OUAT because that one had two rival hetships going head-to-head in canon, and one of the ships did win out.

My advice to the OP? Ship a rare pair (see icon for mine). That way, everyone leaves you alone.

...Teen Wolf has ship wars? Maybe it's because I'm not super involved, but I basically see people who ship Sterek and people who don't, and the people who don't usually ship Scott/somebody.

Yeah I'd guess OUAT too.

For Teen Wolf... the secret said "as long as it's a possibility" so that leaves Stiles/Malia vs Stiles/Lydia and I have not seen much for ship wars there.

I'm not sure why it would be OUAT? Because one of those competing ships did get rather irrevocably sunk already, quite some time ago. It sounds like the OP's ship isn't quite that dead yet.

It could be Teen Wolf - canonically both Sterek and Stydia are losing to Stalia and Derek/Braeden (sorry, don't know their ship name). Or Arrow - it's starting to look very much like Olicity is winning over Lauriver. Except I don't know if there are many Arrow fans here.

It could be Stalia/Stydia, but not Sterek because it has never in a million years been "possible", and that's something the OP said.

I think there were a lot of shippers that believed it was possible at one point, but now yeah, probably not. So not Sterek.
