Huh? I don't think jumping into lakes counts as literally encouraging someone to kill themselves.

It's an idiom for "go away" (we have a lot of those) along the same lines as "go fly a kite" or "go climb a tree." It essentially means telling the person to go do something else that would keep them busy and not bothering the speaker.

If this were "go play in traffic" you might have a leg to stand on, but come on, you're reaching here.
