scared

I'm having terrible nightmares and can't/too scared to sleep. I also have to get out of bed three and a half hours from now.

Is this a common occurrence or just today?

And just for today, can you just try something to unwind few minutes and then make the most of those three hours? and if not,, is pulling an all-nighter a viable option.?

Late to answer.
It was just for that night, thankfully. I did go a few rounds in a bubble shooter until I was able to calm down. Pulling an allnighter was mever an option because work is crazy busy rn.

Thank you for kind advise.

Put on some soothing music maybe? Or a movie in the background?

Try telling yourself a story as you lay in bed. Sometimes I do that -- I'll write fanfic in my head and fall asleep and usually it will continue into my dream.

Or get blackout drunk? (<-- kidding)

I experience chronic nightmares. Two things that I've found help: Eat something sweet. A cookie, piece of candy, waffles with syrup, anything sweet. Our blood sugar drops while we are sleeping and that can boost it up. (This is assuming it's okay diet wise for you to have it.) Also, sweet can be very comforting.

The other thing I often do is to start taking note of my immediate environment. I am 33 years old. I have an orange tabby cat, a gray tabby cat, and a gray and white spotted cat. I hear the AC running. Etc, etc. Helps to pull me into the present and out of the dreams.

*hugs* You have my utmost sympathy for this.

I know this is a bit late to help you, but...next time maybe watch or read something funny before you try going back to sleep? It can be a short video or whatever, or a comic, but doing that might help take your mind off the nightmares. Then you'll have something else to focus on.

I do that after watching or playing anything I consider scary, and it usually keeps me from being too focused on the terrifying stuff.
