(Anonymous) 2014-09-08 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)However, I actually thought Peter Capaldi was well-received? Oddly I'm into DW now, but less in touch with the fandom. (Basically, most of the major Whovians on my flist either left LJ or stopped loving the show. I have no idea why this always happens. Murphy's Law?)

(Anonymous) 2014-09-08 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)Personally I was a little uncertain at first but the last two have rocked; giving us his scary side in Into Dalek and his lighter more childish side in Robot of Sherwood. Capaldi hailed them both, and made them both feel like the same person.

I was hesistant to get into Doctor Who for just that reason - I only like shows where I can get invested in the characters and having said characters then leave can be pretty tough. And I'll admit, I think I am going to have a harder time with this regeneration than with the previous ones in New!Who, since I was very attached to Eleven. It probably doesn't help that I have zero attachment to Clara, so having her around in the transition is zero help.
That said, I certainly can deal with the new Doctor and we'll see how things go. I don't expect to like Twelve as much as Eleven but I can still enjoy the show.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-09 03:06 am (UTC)(link)It can sting when a particular Doctor or companion really clicked with you, but there can also be times where you're a lot more ready to move on. I think I'm already liking 12 better then 11 for instance, not that I actively dislike Matt but he was part of some of my least favorite DW episodes ever and 12 is just a little bit more my style.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-09 04:45 am (UTC)(link)Everyone has different taste, but I'm enjoying 12 as something a bit different. The show has needed a different dynamic for a while.
