Then it shouldn't bother you when people say that they don't like OC's or that sort of thing. Obviously that's not your audience.

Your reaction yesterday was very immature, and yes, quite obsessive.

One of the reasons why I dislike too many OC's in fanfiction is that someone in my fandom took the canon universe and wrote a shitton of OC's into it, but only included one canon character into the story except for at the very end. It just seemed like a gimmick to pull readers in, and people fell for it. If you want to play around in a universe, fine. But don't drag good characters down with the story.

You don't have to worry about that.

People are not ruining your characters though. No one is.

Because at the end of the day, no fanfic changes what's in the canon. None of them Unless the writer notices and copies it but I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Literally nothing is being done to you or your characters unless you click on a link.

It's a choice.

We've all clicked on fics we didn't like.

It happens and it sucks. But unless the summary or tags are literally misleading, it is not the author's fault or responsibility.

In what way do people "fall for it"? If they read to the very end, isn't that their own choice? I can see where a writer might mislead readers enough to get someone to click through, but surely there's a point where you figure out that the fic you're reading is full of OCs you dislike and barely any canon characters and you can close the tab, no big deal.

As for the idea of dragging canon characters down with OCs... dude. Writing and stories don't really work like that. You can have a truckload of badfic and it harms the canon characters not at all.
