for some reason I don't even know your secret actually made me realize that the real problem is the cis white dude hero with issues syndrome
now that's boring.
These female characters are secondary but they're different at least. Can't say that about most of the 'boyfriends' there.

(shouldn't include Spock and Uhura, maybe. After all he's not the white hero, Kirk is. And Uhura is a woman of color)
