22. I loved Xenosaga II's battle system and character designs a whole lot, but not even those can make up for the goddawful (cheesy) dialogues and voiceacting (I am looking at you Olivia Hack and Colleen O'Shaughnessey). I suppose it doesn't help when Kos-mos' and Shion's story got severely shafted; it was just not what I was expecting. So, I respectfully would have to disagree. XD

As for your actual secret... do you know how hard it is to find someone who loves Shion?! Do you?! ILU! *hearts* She isn't my favorite character by far, but I am immensely fascinated with her character, flaws and all.

I really enjoyed Rubedo's story, but yeah, Shion got so shafted. I think it's because they were originally planning to make more games (OMG the huge time gap between 2 and 3. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER GAME, dammit!) so a lot of stuff got cut.

I never expect good voice acting from videogames. As long as it doesn't make my ears bleed, I can handle it. It was all worth it for Crispin Freeman, though. All of it.

I don't get the hate on Shion! Her character flaws are what make her so awesome! (And I mean, come on. She kind of went through a lot.)

I absolutely adored Xenosaga's english voice acting (except for II), in fact I like it a lot more than the japanese one (I know, *gasp*); granted the first game's voice acting needed a bit more tinkering, I thought the third game was perfect. I suppose I am a bit biased since I have such a voice!crush on Lia Sargeant and Bridget Hoffman. XD

Shion is awesome! And for someone like her, who's yeah, bitchy (although I think it's more appropriate to call her temperemental rather than bitchy) and insensitive at times, to be the main character is so very refreshing for me.

The thing I didn't like about the voice acting was how they switched the voices for the second game, like you said. It jarred with my image of the characters. The guys' voices were consistent and grew on me.

Lia Sargent ftw. I loved her as Clair in Star Ocean 3.

I was totally like "what?" when I found out that most fans don't like Shion. As with any work where the (major, anyway) characters are well-developed, I didn't dislike any of the characters. Her being completely unlike the protagonist of any other RPG is really what made me like her.

Shion is awesome. I totally wanted to scream at her in some of II and a better part of III but that's WHY I loved her. Because of the flaws and the reasons and eventually understanding her in those aspects, it's what made the series that much more sexy. ):
