Ai Weiwei is both completely obligatory and completely NSFW, so I'll link to avert questions as to what your eyes ever did to me.

Ai Weiwei is awesome. I saw one of his exhibits. I was in awe of the sunflower seeds he had made by hand.

Slightly OT, but I'll drop this, too--it relates to the sunflower seeds thing. (This one's SFW.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZs4CuQ0lx4

That's really interesting!

now feo obviously knows this, but I'm not sure if you do (and how many others here), but the alpaca (caonima in chinese) only became that important because it was featured in a song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKx1aenJK08) that poked fun at internet censorship, using homophony. "cao ni ma" for instance, means "fuck your mom".

how is this NSFW? Everyone knows Ai Weiwei = art!! :P

Is that...is that a sheep?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-09 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an alpaca.

I don't have a youtube clip for alpacas. I do have a very NSFW clip for sheep.

Aww, I thought you were going to link this.

(If you really want NSFW alpacas, you can look up "Two Love Roux" by Shiraha Mato, but I'm not even gonna link that.)

I think I'll leave the alpacas to somebody else. I'm not brave enough.

Your link is funnier. I'm saving that one.

After that Hatoful Boyfriend comment in GC the other day, do I really want to know?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-10 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still trying to logically wrap my mind around that game [it just makes no sense]

I think that must be the whole point, but it confuses me too. I don't know how you even get the premise of that game, (Well, okay, maybe while high), much less how you convince others to help with it, then consumers to buy it. In a way it's kind of awesome that it even happened.

I recently bought Hatoful Boyfriend on Steam. It's... actually really good IMO. Like, on the surface it's just silly fluff, and it's definitely repetitive (the routes all run along the same timeline, with only the major events being different), but some of the routes get into some genuinely sweet/poignant material. One of the routes gets really, really dark, even. And when you unlock BBL/Hurtful Boyfriend, shit gets real.

tl;dr I like the stupid pigeon boyfriend game and that's terrible.

it works as kind of a deconstruction of dating sims, tbh. it has all the familiar tropes, but with the shiny handsome men removed. which, being that the entire point of dating games is the handsome men, makes it a little inherently comical? it's sort of like those art projects where you intentionally simplify a well known logo into the absolute bare minimum of what is needed to make it recognizable. how much can you enjoy a dating sim with all the men replaced by pigeons? as it turns out for a lot of people... a whole lot.

I guess you haven't met Captain Swan fans.
