You've never seen another fandom that hijacks other fandoms to make them about itself?

I've seen lots of fandoms do it, including MLP. However, I've never seen a fandom keep it up as long. The MLP hijacking has mostly died down now. The SPN hijacking keeps on. And I say that as a fan/former fan (still like seasons 1-5, occasionally rewatch).
