I stopped watching because of that damned fandom. I even know a few people who used to work on the show and still I had to run the fuck away.

I feel the worst for the actors who have to put up with the goddamned fangirls who constantly assault them with OMGDESTIEL! OMG JENSEN AND JARED SECRET RELATIONSHIP THEIR WIVES ARE BEARDS OMG DESTIEL CANON WINCEST. Fucking assholes. Keep that shit on your ffnet account.

I agree it can get obnoxious. But I have to admit I feel like it would've died down a bit by now if not for other fandoms bringing it up? Recently it feels like I've seen more people commenting on posts with "waits for the supernatural gif" or "where's spn fandom when you need them", etc.

(Granted, I don't think it would've died down a LOT, but maybe a little.)

Honestly, I rarely buy the "But it's SO much worse then other fandoms!!!" thing, maybe you just aren't following the right people but all the big "tumblr fandoms" are just as obnoxious as the Supernatural fandom can be.

Like I could make the same claim about Homestuck fandom from my personal experience, because I've seen several hijacked fandom posts from them where not only do they make it about their fandom, but they have to make their fandom out to be SUPERIOR.

And as much as I hate that, I still wouldn't claim Homestuck is any worse then the other fandoms. They are all equally annoying.

I enjoy Supernatural but I'm glad that I never really subscribed to the fandom. I have a feeling that I would be annoyed quite a bit. At the very least I know (now) that I can enjoy a show and completely disregard the fandom.

Not a fan but the whole hubbub over them hijacking things sounds way overblown to me. Oh no, they're reblogging your Tumblr post...! Oh no, they're doing crossover fanwork/nonsense with something you like...? I'd be interested to see an example of them hijacking something in an actually meaningful sense.

I don't see posts about SPN much at all but I don't follow anyone that does so I've been able to avoid posts like that(same with BBC Sherlock that get's mentioned a lot in this regard too).

I have seen posts loaded with SPN gif's though and it was amusing the first few times I saw it but I understand how that could get grating after seeing it a lot.

The way I survive being in the fandom? Staying off Tumblr. I get all I need from various Livejournal communities...SPN news, RPS, Wincest, I could get Destiel if I cared, and beautiful pictures and the boys tweets are rebroadcast, in case I miss them. I've heard how people are on Tumblr and I want NONE of that.

Yeah, most of them are pretty batshit insane and the show isn't much better sometimes. However, you can find some people who won't jump down your throat about a stupid pairing or a character they love more than life itself. They are far and few between, but they are there.

I admit that to keep myself from punching my own SPN friend in the face, I had to make myself another Tumblr so that I could avoid her posts in peace and remain friends. That show is literally the only thing that was end game crazy and we just needed to not share a dash anymore.

I'm pretty sure that the only people who 100% genuinely love the show and think it's still quality compared to earlier seasons are all mentally 12, so.

Anyone who partakes in any kind of superwholock bullshit is probably mentally 12. And the sad part is a lot of them are actually 30+.
