Not a fan but the whole hubbub over them hijacking things sounds way overblown to me. Oh no, they're reblogging your Tumblr post...! Oh no, they're doing crossover fanwork/nonsense with something you like...? I'd be interested to see an example of them hijacking something in an actually meaningful sense.

I've seen a post about gay marriage being passed, that got hijacked by destial shippers.

da

So what, though? It's not like it changes the fact that gay marriage passed. So some people indulge in fantasies of their favorite characters getting married. That's fine.

For the record, since I know it will come up: There are a lot of people that turned their ideas about gay people/gay marriage around after they got into a gay ship. It's not the best way of doing things, but shit, it's a step in the right direction.

I see your point, I was just annoyed that a post about real people had to drag fandom bullshit in. It's like, stop screaming "YAY DESTIAL CAN BE MARRIED NOW!" No, real actual people can get married now. Just be quiet.

But hey, whatever it was just a tumblr post.

no... but it is annoying when you're trying to discuss real-world issues that directly affect people, and have people make it all out about their ship "becoming canon"

not everything in life is about shipping

Not everything in your life, maybe.

What do you want them to do, hijack a plane? Adding gifs that don't have to do with the original post irritate people. They're allowed to complain about it, and I say this as someone who actually finds it pretty funny.

Something about this has always confused me, though. Isn't it easy to just go back and reblog the post without the spn commentary on it? Or just erase the comment or something? People act like it's some cardinal sin that these posts have been ~hijacked~, but it can't possibly be that difficult to click back a bit and get the "untainted" post.
