OCs. When they are well-written and I feel like they believably expand the universe of canon, I like them.

I think the hatred of them stems from so many bad OC fics. Thing is though... no one really tells how to write a good one, so it's not like a lot of solid writers are writing them. And don't get me started on the Litmus test (which really should just say "don't write OCs").

I haven't written fanfic in years, but I always had an OC or two in there. My OC's were usually in positions of power and controlled part of the environment in which the fandom characters resided. That said, I always made sure to keep the relationships strictly professional (or platonic if I felt like going on a limb).
