They are quite nice (though sugar bombs, as they are often sweetened)

I love bacon-wrapped dates that have been sprinkled with a little brown sugar and broiled. Really great appetizer, it always makes people adore you at parties. Alternatively, skip the brown sugar and glaze 'em with balsamic vinegar.
