I just hit a deer

And I'm fine, and the car is mostly fine, and neither of the kids was with me, but I am now hopped up on adrenaline and sick feeling.

Bah.

Oof, that's awful. I've randomly run over a roadkill-hungry bird that divebombed at an unfortunate moment, and some flash of white or tan fur that wanted to cross the street while I was on the highway going full speed.

Those were upsetting enough. I can't imagine what hitting a deer feels like.

I would recommend standing up and doing some stretching exercises and slowly breathing to calm down some.

Once, a tiny little songbird swooped down from the sky and kamikazed into my hood. It was very WTF.

But other than, the only thing I've ever hit is a trashcan that blew into the street with a strong gust of wind.

I have calmed down more now. Wine is helping. Thanks for the stretching advice; that helped too.
