I haven't heard back about a job I applied for. I called for the second time today and was told to call back another day again.

I hear yah; job limbo SUCKS. Hell, I applied to no less that 15 things this summer hoping to get ANY REASON to not go back to school so soon but nada. (Just one semester between the master's and starting the doctorate would've been nice; but I can't afford to be an umployed student, so..) Really prefer to be rejected than to just be left wondering :/

I posted a story a few days ago that is darker than the usual fayre of my fandom. The story's bombing and I just wish I knew why! Is it because it's not the usual light fluff or is it no good? Or both?? I just wish someone would give me feedback.

it could be any number of things, but yeah, some parts of fandom do skew towards fluff.

No one seems interested in buying my used textbooks, even though posts with higher asking prices are getting good traffic. I need the money, damn it.

How are you advertising?

The Master's reveal on The Strain. For a big bad vampire who is supposed to be the end all and be all of evil, his make-up job was ridiculous. (He looked like a pig crossed with Spaceballs Pizza the Hut with pointed ears thrown in.) You should not burst out laughing like I did when the bad guy appears to terrorize the world. But I did.

As the film, Only Lovers Left Alive. My God, what a boring movie. How could they make Hiddleston as a vampire so dull? And I usually like that director's films.

I completely bombed the job interview I had yesterday. Not "Oh, I'm sure it was fine; you just need to be less hard on yourself" bombed, "started crying when asked about coping with job stress" bombed.

I thought I'd have a new job by now... I should be grateful, I do have a job and it's a good one, but I also feel less and less challenged by it every day. I want something new and challenging and exciting.

Cost of education.

My dad set up a college savings fund that he once thought would get me through my whole Bachelor's degree with some left over to tide me started on grad school. I scoffed, spent the first half of my degree at a community college paying out of pocket, and we're only now tapping into that fund for the last two years of my BA degree. My dad was shocked to realize that the fund may not even get us through the full two years - forget what would have happened had I tried all four years at university. Meanwhile, I expected this and am genuinely wondering how he didn't see this coming. Where did he think all those stats about student debt averaging $20k-30k per undergrad came from? -_- If I can Get my undergrad degree with less than $20,000 in debt, I'll consider myself lucky.

My health. My cats depositing huge stinking piles of half-digested cat food all over my house on basically a daily basis. Losing my debit card and a flash drive a friend had loaned me, by apparently somehow dropping them out of my bag over the weekend. The performance of the Detroit Tigers (though they're doing better this week).

Mostly my health.

That I have several fic ideas and can't get any them written down.

That my laptop is slowly dying and I can't afford a new one or to get this one fixed.

My professor. I've talked about this before but it bears repeating. He's so pretentious and tasteless. It really sucks. I'm not serious about really doing it, but I disagreed with him today and it upset me so much, I seriously thought about just getting up and leaving the university if academia is just about begging for approval from people like him. I kind of feel like I don't even know what I'm doing here if the point is to learn to crib off people whose work I don't even like.
