I'm fine with present tense too. I usually avoid it in my own writing but I do have one story I really like where it felt like the best choice for the sense of immediacy in the narrator's thoughts that I wanted.

I pretty much write everything in present tense.

I think it's because I associate past tense with omnisicient third person narration which I cannot do to save my life. Which is perhaps a weird association but IDK my brain.
