SJWs are AWFUL for social justice
(Anonymous) 2014-09-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)The worst thing for me is that I just wish they weren't on my side. I can't remember what it's called at the moment, but there's a name for a person who shares your position, but defends that position with such horrible arguments that they're essentially doing more harm than good. That's what social justice warriors are. I dislike them because I truly believe that they're hurting important causes far more than they are helping to bring about positive change.
They also have a TERRIBLE habit of assuming malice when stupidity or ignorance is a much more likely explanation.
And they have also pretty much ruined fandom. Ironically, they remind me of Sarah Palin fans. Yes, a lot of horribly sexist, classist, and misogynistic crap was leveled at her and that's not okay. But there are also TONS of absolutely legitimate reasons to dislike and/or criticize her. Yet her fans will have you believe that every that does so is sexist or elitist or hates America.
SJWs are like that whenever a particular character or pairing is criticized. YES, there's a lot of horrible BS spewed at certain characters. But so many of them are incapable of recognizing that just criticizing a particular character or relationship =/= racism or sexism or homophobia or transphobia or bigotry.
