I'm completely fucking sick of all arguments about SJWs. My plan is to just judge issues on their merits as much as I can, and also to ignore Internet controversy firestorms as much as possible. All those broader debates just seem completely fucking pointless.

I'd feel better about the SJWs if they didn't go to such lengths to find a way to explain why something should be wrong. Particularly when they end up shouting down members of the group they claim to be sticking up for, for being wrong in some way.

Most anti-sjws I follow are actual minorities though? And I never seem them acting like bigots. I am sure there are, but anti-sjw bigots < sjw bigots

At least there are a few social justice blogs out there that don't dive into the bullying territory.
But I've never met an "anti-SJW" that wasn't unironically racist, sexist, or homophobic. They also just reek of trying too hard.

As usual, the worst of the bunch ruined it for everyone. I don't loathe SJWs because they "stand for equal rights" (arguable), I loathe them because now you literally can't even say the word "privilege" without getting lumped in with those pieces of shit. Thanks to them, all avenues of genuine conversation have been cut off.

And I think that's where most anti-SJWs stand.

The whole rift between SJW and anti-SJW side is getting ridiculous. Each side is getting more ant more extreme. I just love how now we also have so proclaimed "Real Social Justice" who claim to be the rational ones based on facts wheras they are very clearly politically aligned as conservative. Funniest thing ever if you consider that "Social Justice" is a communist notion.

I could go on and on about this as the whole lack of understanding between people makes me just want to form a one person "anti-people coalition" (including hating myself :D).

Anyone seen the latest anti-SJW debate on spanking? That was a whole lot of horrifying. Are SJWs still wanting to kill potential male children? Or wanting to make their kids not hetero?

Agreed. It's one thing to point out that some SJWs are extreme, but I've yet to see a reasonable, non-bigoted person claim to be anti-SJW. Mostly it seems to be people who are angry or feel uncomfortable about being called out on their bigotry. People who'd throw out the baby with the bathwater and dismiss all social justice issues because of the extremists tend not to be people you can trust to NOT be douchebags.

I think SJW/anti SJW is a separate issue from social justice/anti social justice.

You can be anti SJW while pro social justice and equality.

SJW are a group of people, not an ideal. You can be against the Westboro Baptist Church while being Christian. I'd hope that most Christians are. Most of the pro-social justice people I know are also anti-SJW.

I definitely think that people who bully others in the name of social justice should be criticized and called out.

But 99 times out of 100, when I see someone calling someone else a SJW it means "i don't like that this person called me on my bullshit and it's making me uncomfortable"

Some of us are just folks who got really sick of the toxicity of SJW's.

And the thing is, I could probably reason with, or even be sympathetic to a lot of their points if only they communicated like civil human beings.

So what are you? On the one hand you are denouncing SJWs and in the next you are denouncing anti-SJWs. Is there such a thing as a moderate between those two groups? At some point, someone is going to cross the line and you are going to go, "Nope. You are wrong" and be labeled as being part of the other side.

I think the whole SJW/anti-sjw has just brought in too many trolls and the conversation rarely gets taken seriously anymore.

But the dogpiling, death threats, etc all need to go regardless of what side someone is on and if they are trolling or not.

TBBH, I think the extremes of both sides are obnoxious, since they both get so wrapped up in their own ideology, they don't stop to think of the larger repercussions of their actions/behavior, and instead make every effort to drag as many people down with them in their self-righteous crusade(s).

That said, I do think OP makes a good point on the last part there.

And as an aside, I think 'SJW' as a term/label in general has lost nearly all of its meaning at this point in time, but that's just me.

Honestly, if anything I think it's the SJWs who don't want to let go of the ego-boost of privilege. The whole movement is so performative; it's about being visible. "Look at me!" the SJW says, "I'm not like those other white/cis/hetero people! Watch me be even more devoted to The Cause than people it actually affects!!"

The saddest part has been watching anti-SJWs evolve over the past year. A few folks on tumblr (cough cough FactualWiley cough) have changed from people I mostly agreed with to people who think that, unless you are literally being raped in a burka at gunpoint, sexism never exists (unless experienced by men!)

I ask because I tend to consider myself one...on the basis that I feel like SJWs have done more harm than good for social justice. Hell, I get called an SJW by some of my friends, but I still see myself as having to stand in opposition to both SJWs and actual bigots.

There is a LOT of grey area between SJW and Bigot, and I think I fall in the middle. Leaning towards SJW, but still not really in either camp.

Yeah, by all accounts the horseshoe theory should not work, but it always seems to.

As for myself, I'm not really into the social justice scene or activism work enough to consider myself an activist so I don't use the label.

It's pretty much the dumbass cutting the shithead. I'm more sympathetic to the social justice crowd's side of the ideological divide, but I don't want to be around someone who'd send people to sensitivity camp.
