Aww they look so cute

Is that really what happened? Andrew J. Robinson's book implied some sort of quiet falling after the holonovel mishap where Bashir had to shoot Garak.. but I never got the feeling that they were intentionally separated. Just that in the storyline they were doing [mainly the Dominion war] they didn't have enough time to sit around chatting over lunch.

Regardless, I think they would have split naturally. Garak and Julian have very very different ideals. Over the backdrop of a war, things could have gotten messy.

I could be wrong, and the show writers really did interfere. After all, their reaction to overt Dukat sympathy from the fanbase was to turn him into a looney tunes supervillain. Of all the Star Treks, DS9 was pretty darn squirrelly about character gray areas.

Awww, I enjoyed reading it anyway.

*scrolls down vigorously*

Honestly, this fandom is the biggest group of hypocritical assholes when it comes to shipping.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that every fandom? People feel guilty for shipping problematic ships and need to find a ship they can shit on to make themselves feel better.

This is only a thing really self-righteous people do though.

La la la hypoooocrisy! So much hypocrisy.

In a fandom full of fucked up pairings, someone has to be the black sheep. That's just shipping law.

On a more serious note, I'm surprised this pairing is getting so much flak, just because this ship dynamic is a pretty popular one across different fandoms. Unless the majority of Thramsay shippers ship it in a serious romantic way? /doesn't follow GoT fandom

No one views Thramsay romantically, most of the fics are about Ramsay abusing Theon (although there are some where Theon likes it). On Ao3 they like to say "Ramsay is his own warning".

Ah. Well, then I'm not sure why they get so much hate. I thought that that might have been a possibility.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of people just assume that the fans think the situation is romantic or that Ramsay is a nice person, which couldn't be farther from the truth. (Meanwhile these same people have no problem romanticizing Cersei)

We ASOIAF shippers can be kinky savage beasts that not even GRRM wishes to acknowledge, but most of us draw the line at dick flaying. Doesn't seem very sexy to me. Compared to that, Grown Man/Little Girl, a boy/his hostage, Politically arranged marriage, Consensual Incest Pairings 1-5 and SanSan seem downright cuddly.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
a boy/his hostage

Which one is that?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I had Robb/Theon in mind specifically, though it could apply to Rhaegar/Lyanna, if you believe Robert Baratheon's version.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Theon must be the most freedom-enjoying hostage in the world

5/10 for "Thramsay"

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Just so we're clear, I don't mean the pairing of Theon and Ramsay. I mean "Thramsay."

I despise shipping portmanteaus.

Re: 5/10 for "Thramsay"

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think "Rheon" would've been a slightly clever portmanteau for Ramsay/Theon because Ramsay is played by Iwan Rheon.

Yeah, apparently rapey pedophilic ships involving 12 year old girls and severely deranged adult men (Sandor, Drogo, Littlefinger) are totally okay in the GOT fandom, but a more hard core Hannigram is a step too far. Makes no sense.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Only by the dumb assholes in fandom, though. Most of us know that the Bolton fans are pretty much literally the nicest people in the fandom.
