I've come to mildly resent Silent Hill fusions, because everyone tags them with the Silent Hill fandom, and then it makes it so much harder for me to find fic actually featuring the Silent Hill characters.

(Also, I don't feel like most of the fusions really capture the spirit of the town itself - it sounds silly to say 'They're writing this inanimate object OOC!', but...)

Agreed! I used to love fusions years and years ago when my experience with the fandom was limited to ff.net, but nowadays they seem to outnumber actual SH fic. Which wouldn't be TERRIBLE, if only they felt more merged with the universe, and not like they'd been poorly pasted into a bad copy of it. It's a frustrating task to find decent fic.
