the characters I'm watching for have been more or less overlooked plotwise for Free!: Eternal Sousuke.

Exactly! I care about the Iwatobi guys, Samezuka is not important for me at all.

I feel extra sad about it tbh because Rin is my favorite, so Sousuke's relationship with him is all that makes me value the dude. It's not the happiest response to a character because if that weren't the case, my interest really would be barebones. :(

I'm actually glad to see more of Samezuka, because again it's part of Rin's life and all (and I LOVE MOMO oh my god) but my heart is still with Iwatobi first as a unit. Seeing their individual conflicts basically resolved in one swing per episode (excluding Haruka) while Sousuke's stretched through almost the whole season just got tiresome for me.
