Here ya go: http://www.mtv.com/news/1685954/fifty-shades-of-grey-stephenie-meyer/

Oh..welp...I guess I'm wrong. Guess that serves me right for making a stupid assumption.

I don't know. It sounds like she doesn't like it, but is smart enough (business sense-wise) not to cause a shitstorm over it.

I could say it, but...
sabotabby: (books!)

That's...actually a nicely professional and tactful response.

+1 Yeah, I'm not a fan of her work but tbh I've always liked her approach to stuff like this.
pantswarrior: Dear characters: I'm nicer to you than the canon. (author is nice)

+2

...Honestly she comes off as a very nice, reasonable, non-dramatic person I'd probably get along with great, in most of the interviews and blog postings and stuff I've seen from her.

That doesn't mean I don't think her stories suck, but some of my fandom friends over the years haven't impressed me in that regard either (sorry, but it's true :/), and they're still awesome people.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-14 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I guess that answers that question.

I was going to say, we do know what she thought of it. And I agree, it was a really nice way to respond. And I actually do agree with her, since 50 Shades clearly was always a very AU fanfic (I don't know much about the original but I do get the impression that there were never any vampires).

(Anonymous) 2014-09-15 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
There were never any vampires in Twilight either.

“It might not exist in the exact form that it’s in,” Meyer said. “Obviously, [James] had a story in her, and so it would’ve come out in some other way.”

That is actually a very classy response.
