That sucks. :( But please do keep in mind that the only reason she successfully does this is because you let her. There's no real "forcing" when it comes to unwanted guests. Just say no, it won't be possible. Don't offer reasons or explanations for her to argue with. Just say "No, it's not possible." "You'll have to make other plans, sorry." Repeat ad nauseum. If she tries to apply public pressure, dig your heels in. "Sorry, can't. I'm sure there'll be other get togethers you can make."
