OP, I'm sure there's plenty gay dudes around that you don't realise are gay dudes :P .

In writing, I can only tell the difference in teenagers. Just read an excerpt from a lovely piece by one boy, it included "dick2dick" (yes, he wrote that!) and "luv rods". Seen girls writing about "wet caverns" and all that. I'm sure they mix, depending on how a person grows up, friends, family, what they read, so on.
