You know, I have to defend Miranda by saying that I'm pretty sure spontaneous lactation would freak even Hermione out. I'm willing to bet her first action would be to go to Madam Pomfrey, not the library. Same when Miranda started lactating blood. I'm thinking that would freak anybody out so they went to the doctor first. It's not a sign of stupidity that she didn't "research" it.

Hermione at least had a warning of "strange shit probably happens here" when an owl delivered a letter that said she'd been accepted at a school for witchcraft and wizardry. Miranda got in a car accident and went to the nearest house to call a tow truck. Not exactly a warning of "weird stuff is about to happen".

In a day and age where people have cellphones surgically attached to their hands, how do you NOT Google it right away (which is faster than making a doctor's appointment and then driving to his office) and find out within two minutes that oh, okay, it's a little weird but it is a thing that sometimes happens.

Uh... a bizarre modern mansion owned by an 18 year old who has two weird, secretive servants guarding a secret baby in a hidden sound-proofed room with an electronic key code entry. That's not weird?

but causing her to spontaneously lactate in his presence and then find a baby weird? there's weird and then there is WTF weird.
