You totally get to be offended. You get to be offended at anything, frankly.

Now whether or not OP listens to you is another matter.

Here's the thing: if you want to walk down the street in a great big war bonnet wearing both a bindi and blackface, at least in the US you get to do so. What you aren't shielded from is social ramifications.

Now is anyone going to ACTUALLY care if a nonscottish person wears a kilt? Or are they going to be more offended by their twiggy legs?
