11. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is awesome. She's about the only American VA I fangirl am a fan of (which is not to say that I dislike the rest, just that I don't particularly care about them and can't even name very many). So yeah, no shame there! And yes, it is definitely possible to crush on voices.

12. Aww, that's not true. There's Matt/Mello too, apparently. (Okay, okay, that was awful.)

13. You know, it's a funny coincidence -- I was just re-reading the StB wank reports on fandom_wank last night. She is pretty awesome, though, when she's not a mess. Shame she doesn't realize that herself.

16. Megatokyo was fun in the beginning (though not really teh best thing evar!!!1!11), but as soon as it stopped being random and dumb and started taking itself seriously (i.e. around when "Largo", whatever his real name is, left) it just sucked. And yeah, Fred can't really draw.

17. Fuck yeah, Sarah Jane Adventures.

26. Eh, I've been to a con with a friend who has fanboys and... she can keep the attention, as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't want it. Which is not to say that I can't understand where you're coming from, just... actually I don't know what I was getting at there.

Piers Anthony had a fallout of people who read him?

I don't really know -- I've never really been a fan, myself. It's just that recently, over on the TV Tropes Wiki (where I waste large quantities of my time), there was discussion of making a page for Piers Anthony, except most of the discussion was just complaining about his writing, and no one seemed to like him enough to actually make the page, although several people said they used to like him. So I guess coming from that to "this Piers Anthony book is one of my favorite books ever" was a little... I dunno. It was an odd contrast, anyway. And that one discussion aside, even, most people I know either never liked him or liked him but are now kind of indifferent to him, at best. So I was just somewhat surprised to find someone who still liked (one of) his books and was enthusiastic about it, really. Maybe it's just the people I know, though, and he has an enthusiastic fanbase out there that I haven't noticed before.

... Did any of that make any sense or am I just rambling?

You made good sense. I've recently tipped my boyfriend into reading the Xanth series by Anthony, mostly because he and I are both terrible punsters and Anthony breaks your brain for puns in Xanth. I still find the novels entertaining, on about the same level as historical romance; things I never read for depth but for laughs. Granted, I never liked the sexism, and I laugh about it now with my boyfriend, but I don't think he's horrible.

I do understand much of the "used to like" syndrome. For me, it's similar to say, Anne McCaffrey. It's not that I don't like her now, it's just that I've grown into more sophisticated tastes, and the inconstancies and fallacies of her as a writer bug me now when they didn't used to. Enthusiastic interest, I feel, comes with the discovery or cherishing of a novel; I cherished the experience of the Pern series, but don't immerse these days. I cherished the experience of Xanth and Firefly; but re-reading isn't so much what I'd want to do. Anthony read best to me once through, when I was young enough to not care about the sexism.
