I immediately shut off when people start talking about social justice, especially when they use terms like "so important" or "why is nobody talking about x?"

You're not an asshole for shutting off at buzzwords (buzzphrases?) They bring nothing new to social justice, and using them says to me that you're just trying to show off and sound passionate and knowledgeable.

For me it's often who, not what they say. For me part of actual social justice should be about meaningful dialogue, and derailing and pointing fingers and making assumptions about anyone who didn't vote for Obama or Hilary is counterproductive to that.

Oh me too. Whether it's intended or not, I just can't stand the idea that I'm being lectured to by SJWs because I like something they don't.

To write off all social justice, yeah, it does make you an asshole.

To write off conversations about it that start with catchphrases like the ones you listed, not really.

Not exactly, I'll seek information on social justice issues my own, but I don't really care about what Joe Schmoe has to say about sj issue x on twitter/tumblr/facebook/whatever.

I do this too.
