The word "non-binary" no longer has any meaning for me because of Tumblr headcanon posts.

A lot of the gender stuff has lost all meaning to me because of tumblr. I'm sick of the, "I don't like pink or wear dresses, I just can't be a girl! I'm nongender!" and I'm just thinking, uh, yes you can be a woman and not like dresses and pink.

Oh my god, this shit pisses me off so much. I'm a woman and I hate dresses and I'm not fond of pink, but it doesn't mean that I'm not a woman. Fucking Tumblr I swear.

A woman is an adult female human being, not makeup, stiletto heels or a miniskirt. It doesn't make you any less feminine if you drink beer, like sports, or know how an engine works.

The other day I was following a couple different tags and ended up on a Tumblr where the person basically had the whole minority combo in their bio: POC, disabled, gay, etc, but also 'cis female.' The most recent post was "I think I need to re-examine my gender pronouns, cis doesn't fit me anymore" and all I could think was "Didn't have enough oppression points before, huh?" It just seemed so desperate to be the specialest of special snowflakes.

Similarly, I tune out when people younger than my first gay pride t-shirts start trying to define sexualities and genders into tiny labels and boxes that shall not be confused because that's "erasure."

So much love for this. I'm so tired of getting my ass jumped because I didn't get the latest Tumblr update on the cool new identity. Even if I wanted to keep up, it's damn near impossible at this point.
