In honour of Downton Abbey (running in the background right now): I hate it when character development is retconned. Especially if it happens over and over again.

Can you be more specific? Downton Abbey has SO many instances of this.

I'm particularly annoyed at how Thomas is written. Every season he gets some (sometimes even quite a bit of) character development, some facets, and as soon as a new season comes around he gets back to the exact same way he was before. It's irritating. I have little patience for characters who seem to be unable to learn from their mistakes. Especially if it seems more like lazy writing than on purpose.

God this episode is so weird with it. It's like he is completely normal and then suddenly EVIL MUSIC MUST THREATEN BAXTER.

Right? And damn, how many times will they do the "Thomas does shit that should get him fired, something random happens and he's completely rehabilitated"? First season was "he found the dog", second season "he's not currently working here and just snuck back in", third season "O'Brien told him her biggest secret" (which was very OOC for her), fourth season: He was accidentally right about the nanny. Now the fire. It's getting ridiculous.
