The calling their name from 3 feet away thing annoys my mum so much. Every time that happens, she has to point that out.

What annoys me are very minor things that are just left out for convenience but wouldn't be very hard to include actually. Like characters never locking their car after getting out or characters agreeing to meet but never stating a time and place for the meeting.

Or when a character is given some information (like an address, a phone number, a list of names) or told something complicated to remember and doesn't write it down or ask the person giving the information to repeat it.

I usually don't mind this because I see it as just a shortcut to preserve the atmosphere/pacing, but there are times when it really doesn't make sense at all. Especially when a character parrots word-for-word something they overheard in passing one time. How do they remember that????
