Straw that breaks the camel's back?

[personal profile] elephantinegrace 2014-09-21 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe she had a bad week or something, and hoped that a nice fluffy fic would cheer her up, but then when it turns out to break up her favorite couple, it becomes the icing on the cake that she throws on the wall?

IDK, I've burst into tears once when the pizza was five minutes late, because I was already so upset that my car had to be taken in for repairs. The pizza delivery boy probably thought I was nuts. It sounds like you only know this person from the internet, so you might not have the whole story.

Not really sure "the whole story" is a good mitigating factor in your examples, unfortunately. We all have days and experience that last straw that breaks the camel's back. The difference is that while it's okay to have those feelings, imposing them on other people is a little iffy. You can't help bursting into tears even if it alarms the pizza guy and makes him feel guilty for being five minutes late, but the person in the secret probably doesn't need to post about her dramatic disgust over a fic she didn't like.

I didn't think about this but that's a good reason for being ott about it. I know I've been pissed at finding out the gen story I was reading was a NOTP fic and I could see flipping out in private if I was having a really bad day.
