It's possible the girl is being hyperbolic or just plain overreacting, but that behavior reminds me of a friend of mine who has severe anxiety and a history of depression, among other issues. Due to a variety of negative associations, even though she's usually of a "ship and let ship" mindset, there are a handful of ships that are legitimately triggering for her.
