And because it came up last time: neuroscience isn't immunology. Vaccines = immunology. It's possible she has no background in immunology whatsoever, hence the blind ignorance about vaccination (though her political beliefs are just as appalling).

And in my school, for example, neuroscience doesn't draw from biology or microbiology/biochemistry majors for the most part, it draws from psychology majors, who like the engineers above, don't know jack shit about hard science outside of their tiny specialty and are prone to all kinds of anti-vax, anti-GMO, "toxin" voodoo in a way you never find in someone who did immunology, biochemistry, or genetics.
What I'm saying is that yes, it's completely appalling, but I'd be more surprised if it was someone who was in a related discipline, by far.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-23 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)I do agree with your point about vaccination, but come on here, she absolutely has more standing to comment on neuroscience than the average person. Whether you want to say she is or is not a neuroscience is definitional, but, like, come on.
