Those were great episodes! I didn't like him in women's clothes, though.

I'm not sure it suits him...but I bet the episodes were fun, which is what's most important. (I managed to miss these episodes. Damn.)

That's the best part, they weren't. I mean, yes, the first times Sam leaps into a woman were hilarious and there were lots of jokes about bras and make up. But he got used to it and after that, some of those episodes were actually quite dark and/or serious.

Hmm, that's unexpected but intriguing! Might have to watch them sometime. (I figured the darker moments would be few and far between, but it's pretty cool the show didn't just run with joke after joke with no substance.)

Honestly, what I like best about those episodes is that it does tackle topics that would be pretty touchy even today. [Ex. There's an episode that deals with the crap women go through when they try to prosecute their rapist.]

Well...that sounds depressing, but from what's being said in this thread I'm sure it does a good job of exploring how terrible the reality of that situation is. (Which is something that should be explored.)

Sounds ahead of its time, as you don't see a lot of that kind of thing even now.

This.

Quantum Leap was my first exposure to a science fiction show - and I remember liking, even as a child, that they did not leave women entirely out of the experience. And you're right, as the show went on, the subjects of these women's problems became far more than a punchline about bras.

Some of the leaps into women were good. The one where he leaped into a pregnant woman was just weird, though.

I choose to read that as "artholes"

What about areholes?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-23 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked the episodes and how they were handled [mostly], but I can't say I cared for him in the clothes. -shrugs-

I just love the timing of this secret with NCIS: New Orleas debuting tonight (with Scott Bacula's character as the lead)

(Anonymous) 2014-09-24 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I have to watch it.

And thank the baby Jesus in his golden diapers that Bakula left that horrible affected Southern accent from last season's crossover intro episode in the river. Because that was the deal breaker for me. And it's gone. Yay!

I believe that Al's boner at seeing Sam dressed up as Samantha made me the slasher I am today.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-24 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
I always thought they tackled the issues about women pretty well, but Sam wasn't really all that convincing as a woman.
