What is your definition for "contributed to music"?

Had an immediate and lasting influence on other artists that persisted for at least a few years is a good start.

Whether that applies to Amy Winehouse is a matter of debate (I personally could see how she made it easier for similar female acts to get into the business) but it's undeniable that Jimi Hendrix invented or codified a lot of what we hear in all sorts of music today -- and his legacy far outsizes hers, if only because he's been dead longer and the ripples of his influence stretch further.

I think her success did significantly change which acts/artists were pushed by record companies in the UK. w/o Amy Winehouse, no Duffy, possibly less of a push for Adele, several others and I doubt Plan B would have gone all retro with his second album. There's also a few I'm forgetting.
