And what's wrong with that? You seem to be assuming that the followers on tumblr don't read the fic, just kudos it, where the safer assumption is that they're following that writer because they want the earliest access possible to their writing.

I don't think they're saying that at all? They're just pointing out that that'll drive up kudos and hits. They're not making any value judgments about the people who give the kudos and hits.

Like the anon below said, you completely misunderstood my comment. O__O I follow several fanfic writers' tumblrs and love seeing them post fic banners and updates. I was merely explaining to OP why some fic might have a ton of hits; it's because of Tumblr followers.
