3. Genius investigators have to wear shoes now? Shoes suck. If I was a genius investigator and could get away with it, I wouldn't wear shoes, ever.

14. Maybe getting into slash and/or yaoi actually made people realize they were trans. Maybe FTMs like fandom and slash because they can express themselves, their desires, and their feelings about their body without feeling like they're being judged for it. And maybe some guys--trans or cis--fucking like being cutesy and not having to be judged for that too.

23. I like you.

28. This would be hot.

Thank you. I'm personally happy that many of us have found a space where we DON'T have to pretend to be someone else all the time, and that we can be accepted as ourselves. Also, I'm getting really sick of the belief that one has to be either closeted in every meaning of the word or fulfilling a set role to "not be fake." So fucking what if someone finds bishounen or visual kei a more appealing male dynamic than the American Manly Man (tm) stereotype? That's their choice, it's their life, and if you don't like it, you can deal with it or avoid them. *headdesk*

But that's not the point. Read the secret again.

I did read it. Your point seems to be that there's "too many FTMs in fandom," and that you believe we're all fake and doing it for the yaoi. I won't insist that every FTM in fandom is for real, but hey, WE and our therapists define whether we're real or not.

(Anonymous) 2007-12-15 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, I'm not the OP. I was just telling you to read the secret again.

But uh, okay?

A person who is "cisgender" is the opposite of "transgender." To put it kinda crudely, man born in a man's body, instead of a man born in a woman's body.

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
So, er... (and I hate to use the world but nothing else is coming to mind goddamn finals and allnighters and caffeine) "normal" gendered people, then?

augh I hate to use that word but I can't think of any other way to put it. >_

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
People with gender identities that match their biological sex, yeah. I identify as a woman and I am biologically a woman, therefore I am a cis-woman, etc etc.

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
'kay.

Thanks for clearing that up. You learn something new every day >_>

[identity profile] iamadoughnut.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Why do you think the term cisgendered was invented?

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Because academics have entirely too much time on their hands?

[identity profile] iamadoughnut.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
... no.

It was not made up by academics either.

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, academics just have too much time on their hands in general.

...the preceding comments were intended as a joke, by the way (well not the bit about academia having entirely too much free time that part's true). Blasted dispassionate text. *sigh*

[identity profile] jame-alec.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Here's a way you can put it: Cisgender.

It's like calling people that are straight "normal" instead of gay. It's not that one's normal and the other is abnormal. It's just that being straight and cisgender is more common than gay or transgender.
