Ironically, people that can't stand people like this, or get uppity about people like this really bother me. People that take fandoms too seriously are why I try not to get too involved.

I invited a friend to come with me to another friend's apartment to go to a rave. We returned home after the rave... thing. It kind of sucked XD anyway, the friend and I (who's apartment we were at) both pretty much disliked FF7. We found it boring, and really overdone, not to mention the spinoffs.

The other friend completely freaked out and started yelling at us about how awesome FF7 was, and I think she cried a little.

I remember, her telling me how WEIRD that chick was, talking to her later. I was like "I knew she liked FF7, I didn't know she wanted to have it's children". But really, listening to her talking about fandom stuff is what keeps me on the sidelines. I'm kind of glad we aren't friends anymore, because of that.

Person #2? She has the right attitude... about TV series and stuff. I mean... its a show/game/book. Come on, people.

The thing that mostly bothered me was that the person considers female bashing positive. I have characters I don't like, but I don't go around ranting about how much I hate them.

Mmh. The problem is, there are very FEW good female leads in anime/games. I rather like Elizabeth of potc... and Tohru of Furuba... Hitomi of EscaFlowne, etc... but I find often times they're... overdone maidens in distress or uber powerful female roles. There's no in between.

Hmm... I'm not a big fan of the way females are portrayed in a lot of the typical mainstream shounen anime. Maybe that's part of the reason I can never get into it. I've seen a lot of great females though in some of the lesser known stuff though. Kinda wish I knew of a way to drag people into my dead/tiny fandoms. :(

That doesn't mean you should bash them firstly, and secondly, in at least one of the fandoms there the female characters are utterly undeserving of the bashing they get. Not to mention that most of them are ignored utterly as if they don't exist.
