And seeing how batshit the anti-Zutara people are doesn't help any, from what I've seen the haters of the pairing are far worse than the fangirls.

Because there's more to a show than pretty animation..? Hell, I've seen some gorgeous series that really sucked.

There is more, but I can't get into a show unless the animation is pretty and Avatar one of the ugliest shows I've seen.

there are lots of pretty shows out there that have no substance. if luisa_f is going to go on about how they only like pretty shows, then frankly, it is quite illuminating that they are in it 'for the pretty'.

ie. shallow.

And who cares? Just because a show is pretty doesn't automatically mean she's going to like it. She could dislike the pretty shows with no substance just as much as you do. And even if she does, maybe she likes them because they're bad, for the lulz. Some people have a sense of humor. Hard to grasp, I know.

Do you mean the animation or the art style? Because I can understand that the art wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but the animation itself is undeniably top-notch.

I can't understand why people get obsessed over it, period. Why THAT show, among all the others?

Me and my friend have a little chant about out stance on it:

Because it has good writing, great animation, well-rounded characters, a consistent plot, and themes that both kids and adults alike can identify with. You certainly don't have to like the show, but a handful of episodes should be enough to tell you that the appeal behind it isn't limited to the whole concept of bending.

Me and my friend both watched a part of a marathon of it when we were bored, and it just didn't really stick with either of us. ^^;

But hey, it's fine. We don't mind the show, it just doesn't appeal to us for some reason.
