I'm convinced that Fukiko is the source of all Rei's problems. -.-;
That would be a fairly accurate asessment! But I still find their relationship endlessly amusing interesting.
Then entire show gives me Utena flashbacks - which is a good thing, because I love Utena.
It's kind of like a primordial Utena, before the evolution of floaty castles and symbolic swordfights.

I've heard it said that Utena borrowed heavily from Riyoko Ikeda's work - especially Rose of Versailles - but I found Utena to be a hell of a lot more like Oniisama e than Rose of Versailles (which basically just had all the uniforms and the cross-dressing... and roses).

When I fist started watching it I was convinced that Rei = Juri, Fukiko = Shiori, Kaoru = Utena and for some reason Tomoko came off as Wakaba. I wonder if I'm a but batty for thinking this. Eventually I came to realize that they're actually more fucked up than the Utena cast. Awesome, but fucked up. :D
