Re: Do you go to cons?

Every year I go to Emerald City ComiCon, and every year it is the greatest goddamn thing. It's the highlight of my whole year. I meet up with friends who travel out to go, the panels are extraordinary (and there's so many of them!), the dealer's room is always chock full of great stuff (plus I get to meet a lot of my favorite webcomic artists!), they always get awesome guests...the diversity and the energy in the crowd is fantastic too. I really really love it.

I'm thinking of cosplaying this year, but I'm not sure what yet!

ECCC sounds like it has something for everyone. Have you always been able to go to the panels you wanted, or has there ever been too many people to fit into the room?

Sometimes it does end up standing room only, but what I usually do is camp the prior panel to the one I'm there for, and then I'll still have a seat once the switch-out happens, haha. The upside is getting to see cool things from panels I wouldn't have normally gone to. Couple of years ago, I was waiting for the Titmouse panel by camping the Hellboy panel that was going on right before it (I'd never read or seen any Hellboy things), but I ended up being so interested by everything they were talking about, that I went out and bought a few issues of the comics and rented the movies. :D

I'm curious about this too, seeing as I'll be going to ECCC for the first time next year.

My only other experience with a non-anime, non-SDCC con was Mid-Ohio-Con waaaay back in 2007 (before they got bought out/devoured by the Wizard conglomerate) and that was p. much a dealer/artist room and very, very few panels to go to. I'm hoping ECCC will have more of a SDCC-esque variety as far as panels go.

There's a ton of variety! So much so that they often have to spill out into the nearby theaters because the convention center can't hold all of it. It's great. :D
