Ugh, the idea that a female character automatically becomes worthless if she's saddled with a bit of fanboy fodder (fodder which is totally superficial and doesn't even involve any negative impact on her ability to do badass things) is so idiotic. It's like these women who call themselves feminists think that a man's gaze is so powerful that it can single-handedly evaporate all the concrete, factual badassery and value in a female character, regardless of any of the actions the female character in question takes. It's so gross.

Not that deciding to tone down the fanboy fodder is a bad thing for the work overall, but it's a totally separate topic from the character's personality and actions.
