Eh, I think Moon Pride is utterly forgettable but that's just me. Glad you enjoy it. Highly doubt they'll be playing Moonlight Densetsu though.

I actually like Moon Pride,
but I still don't think it comes even close to Moonlight Densetsu.

It's still a lot better than the Stars opening, though.

I always thought that the Stars opening song was pretty great.

I like Moon Pride, but only as a catchy jpop song, it's not really as memorable as the original opening and kind of generic.

That's not to say it's a bad song, it's just not in the slightest bit unique.

That's how I feel. The sentiment is good, it's just really generic.

Yeah, this is how I feel too. I like Moon Pride as well, but not nearly as much as Moonlight Densetsu. Some of the lyrics are definitely a little cheesy and generic.

well, it's sung by momoiro clover, so "generic jpop" is just spot on.

I love the new song. I had built up so much anticipation for the new series so that when I heard it, I just felt that special 'something' in it. Moonlight Densetsu was perfect for the previous Sailor Moon but I think that this song is the Sailor Moon song for a new generation and that's exciting!

I rather like the lyrics, myself. "We don't need boys, we protect ourselves!" is exactly the kind of message I would've liked to see in a theme song when I was younger, and I still appreciate it today. The song itself is just kinda okay to me, but the fact it's attached to Sailor Moon gives it like a +100 for immediately making me perk up when I hear it, because of the attached nostalgia.

Which is why I really hope you're right about Moonlight Densetsu, because I had no particular love for the song except "Sailor Moon opening, yay!" in the same manner, but I'm pretty sure if they do break it out at some dramatic part I will start bawling like a baby.

(And re: other comments - I liked the Stars opening better than both, musically speaking. :D)

The "we don't need boys" lyric actually drives my translation friend nuts because the original wording is more "we're not fragile beings who need outside protection" (no gendered language). It was probably too wordy to manage anything else, but it's the most common complaint I've seen from people, including her. Now I think of it every time the line flashes by.

I don't have a great attachment to the song but I absolutely love Crystal's opening. And I think it's a great fit.

And I do think Moonlight Densetsu is loved mostly because of nostalgia - I would say on it's own merits that it is about the same quality as Moon Pride.

I suddenly need to go re-watch the Stars opening because I had forgotten they changed the OP for that one ... and I like it too. And the opening of PGSM is pretty fun, though I don't remember it as well.

tl;dr - All the Sailor Moon openings are fun!

I do love all the Sailor Moon openings. Some more than others, but I love them all!

I love "Moon Pride" and the Sailor Stars Song, but I think one of my favorites (and very underrated IMO) song is "Kirari Sailor Dream". I loved that opening song from PGSM (plus, Naoko herself penned the lyrics!).

My favourites are "My Only Love" (Jennifer Love Hewitt, IIRC), the Sailor Scout transformation theme, and the Outer Senshi violin theme.

My personal favorite of the SM openings is the German one, Kampfe Sailor Moon.

I don't understand a word of it, but I sure like the way it sounds.

I always loved the Dead Moon Circus theme <3

What do y'all make of the allegations that Toei purposefully screwed up the animation so that people would buy the "fixed" version on Blu-Ray?

Also, the "Moon Pride" music video is creepy.

Fixing the BDs happens to pretty much every anime release and Toei has so many projects running atm and the SMC staff are a bunch of newbies, apparently, so it makes sense that the work wouldn't be that good.

I doubt it was on purpose. The lack of budget has been discussed since day one, so hearing that they are making efforts to improve the animation when most people agreed that Toei blu-rays tend to do it less often was a pleasant surprise.

I mostly assumed it was the really bad reviews on Amazon.jp on the blu-ray page that prompted them to increase whatever they were going to do, tbh, but I have no idea how Japanese companies regard that kind of press. I've only seen it happen once before on a video game tie-in.

I think it's cute, but forgettable.

I hope they don't, I like how Crystal is a completely new adaptation that at most does small references to the 90's series and that would be the ultimate pandering :(

Mmmh the song grows on you after a while. Imo both songs have their ups, and I agree Moon Pride fits the new series.
