Yeah, this is what I lament. I spent YEARS having great debates on the Jedi Council Forums about Star Wars. Trying to do that on Tumblr is futile. Especially since different sides of debates REFUSE to talk to each other.

Like, I remember talking with someone about Anakin being a "stalker" in Attack of the Clones. It was a great discussion because I pointed out that when Padmé told Anakin to back off, he did completely and that I felt his creepiness was more due to awkwardness and inexperience. It was a really fun and stimulating debate -- especially in the context of the Anakin/Padmé relationship.

Trying to discuss ships on Tumblr, though, is impossible (among other things). If you post something critical without tagging it with the pair name, then you just get an echo chamber. If you do tag it with the pair name, you're yelled at and told to not use the tag and "tag your hate." It's like people only want to hear opinions that reinforce their own.

I'd really love to do a back and forth with someone who disagrees with me, but it doesn't seem possible given the way Tumblr is set up and the climate of the place.
